Welcome, Selamat Datang, ようこそ。

It’s our great pleasure to welcome you, the readers, to the blog of the Brunei Participating Youths of the 36th Ship for South East Asian Youth Programme 2009 (BPYs@36th SSEAYP’09).

The objective of this blog is to for us, the BPY’09, to have an internet presence and provide info to you, the readers, whether you’re a BPY’09 wondering what we went thru in the previous weeks and months but couldn’t cuz of the hectic lifestyle that we’re leading at the moment, or you’re one of the ex-BPYs of the yesteryears wondering how the 2009 batch are coping or how we’re trying to up the standards that you all previously set, or you’re someone in the general public (who fits the bill) who wanna try out for SSEAYP 2010 next year wondering what you’re gonna be going thru if you make the cut for the Final 28, or the you’re just someone who wants to know what’s all the hype about…

Thru this blog, we also hope that the PYs of the other ASEAN countries, and also Japan, will be able to get to know us in some way… so that when it comes 27th October 2009 in Tokyo, we will be able to rush thru the intros and say “OMG!! I’ve read so much about and I’ve been wanting to meet you for the last 3 months!!” instead of, “Hello, err…ya…so, my name is (name). I’m from (name of country), you know where it is right? It’s nice to meet you. I hope we can along… Excuse me, I have to go do something now… See you later…”

Just to get you all up to speed with what’s been going on with Camp BPY’09, it’s been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride… and we’re not even on Fuji Maru yet!!!

Fuji Maru? Ya, that’s right… you read it right, it ain’t your eyes going blurry nor is it a typo…
FUJI MARU. F-U-J-I-M-A-R-U. ふじまる。フジマル。

WE GOT A NEW SHIP!!… (Well, it ain’t that new… it’s just that it’s not Nippon Maru anymore, so it’s new to SSEAYP). And for us, although it’s our first time joining this programme, the PY’09 will be the first batch to set sail on Fuji Maru for the SSEAYP Programme, so it’s something special for us all to look forward to.

What have we been doing in preparation for our journey? Ever since the Final 28 were chosen, we’ve been shaking our bodies and moving our limbs left and right, up and down, and in angles some of us never moved them in before, all for our performance for our National Day Preview on the 19th of October, a week before our departure. 6 nights a week, we spent our time at Pusat Belia (Youth Centre) at BSB, doing discussions and learning & tweaking our performances, in an effort to prove that we truly are the best 28 that Brunei Darussalam will send in 2009. We hope to silent our critics and honestly earn our praises (hopefully getting a rating of 8 out of 10, although getting 10/10 is nicer) with our performances and efforts.

Please do check back once in a while (although regularly would bring bigger smiles to our faces) for updates. We’ll do our best to provide many-many photos for your viewing pleasure.
